Even though we are still somewhat restricted in how and where we can physically travel this month, there are many opportunities to take some wonderful trips virtually on YouTube, Google Earth and more virtual travel sites. Here are some of the best road trips for Spring:
- Google Earth offers a digital Route 66 Voyager Virtual Tour – a tour that is a must on every car enthusiast’s bucket list.
- Australia’s Great Ocean Road is so popular and infamous because of its dangerous driving conditions that this virtual road trip may be more of a relaxing alternative than actually driving the road yourself. Begin the trip at the Memorial Arch at Eastern View.
- Wild Atlantic Way in Ireland starts at the edge of Kinsale, the first town on the Southern Atlantic Way. For additional highlights, check out the immersive 360 degree VR videos of several scenic spots along the Wild Atlantic Way.
- Chapman’s Peak Drive, South Africa, is unlike other scenic tours on this list. This drive is short enough to enjoy a real-time, turn-by-turn experience. On Google Maps, the drive begins at the toll gate and navigates all of its 114 cliff-hugging curves. Drive down the stretch of road on the Cape Peninsula south of Cape Town and, on YouTube, you’ll find dashcam content for an even more realistic, self-driving experience.
