Team members at Morningside of Fullerton are learning to adapt during the current pandemic and use their creativity to lift the residents’ spirits and keep them motivated. Every Friday, the community hosts a special themed TGIF event just for the residents.

Recently, more than 40 team members volunteered and surprised the residents with a dazzling light parade. They used hundreds of glow sticks to decorate themselves and 20 golf carts; even the executive director, Richard Nordsiek, participated. The team members danced throughout the community twice, with music keeping spirits high. From their balconies and patios, the residents let them know how grateful and delighted they were with the beautiful display of colors and lights.

Other TGIF events include themes such as Hawaiian Luau, Circus, Macarena and Country & Western. Later this summer, residents will enjoy Pirates of the Caribbean and Dog Days of Summer events.

“It’s truly heartwarming to see the staff go to such great lengths to ensure we are happy and well taken care of,” said resident Patsy Zima. “I am continually amazed and impressed by the tenderness, love and sincere affection by everyone at Morningside.”

Visits to retirement communities across the country have been restricted due to the pandemic, but Morningside of Fullerton has resident wellness top of mind and is getting through this tough time together, one day at a time.
